Valentine’s Day: 8 creative ways to celebrate if you’re engaged

Valentine’s Day is always a date to be celebrated – specially by couples who are about to get married. If you are tired of doing the same kind of things every year, we’ve prepared a special list with creative suggestions from our wedding planners. And what’s best – you can even involve some vendors of your wedding on some of them.

See our suggestions to celebrate Valentine’s Day:

  1. Destination weekend

The wedding planner Suita Carrano suggests that if the couple is planning a destination wedding, it would be nice to enjoy a pre-wedding weekend in the destination. “Couples might ask the wedding suppliers to help with this. It may be a good way also to check if suppliers are reliable”, says Suita Carrano.

  2. Spa Day

Half day at a SPA, with exclusive use,  followed with a romantic dinner might be also a good idea. “The couple can still involve the wedding supliers, caterer for the dinner and florist to decorate the SPA. You can plan this even 1 day prior the celebration”, suggests Suita Carrano.

  3. Italian way to celebrate

If you are in Italy, do like the Italians. “Celebrating in Italy could be extremely romantic. We have not to forget that St. Valentine lived at the Ancient Romans time! Legend says that he was a priest of Rome who used to celebrated Christian weddings when they were forbidden by Pagan Emperor. To celebrate Valentine’s Day in Italy, we could suggest for sure the classical such as a “cenetta intima” (intimate dinner) in exclusive Italian restaurants in Venice or on Roman Terraces with most delicious Italian food”, claims the wedding planner Valentina Lombardi.

Venice can not be forgotten. “Let’s not forget that Valentine’s Day happens in the same time of famous Venice Carnival so you can get to wear a wonderful Venetian Mask and celebrate in Venice Piazza San Marco! Or we can suggest a lovely boat tour with Italian prosecco on board on Lake Como or other romantic Lakes of Italian Lakes District. We can surely involve some professionals such as boat drivers, restaurants, florist or photographers”, suggests Valentina Lombardi. And, most important, do learn some love words in italian: Ti Amo (I love you), Mi vuoi sposare? (Would you like to marry me?).Wedding planner: Valentina Lombardi | Photo: The Italian Wedding Company

  4. Romantic engagement session

A wonderful engagement photo session in the streets of your city. The Italian wedding planner Valentina Lombardi suggests Rome, Florence or Verona, which is famous by Romeo and Juliet’s balcony.                             Wedding planner: Valentina Lombardi | Photo: Independent Pictures

  5. Saling on Valentine’s Day

If you are into sailing, why not doing it on Valentine’s Day? “Coming from a city where the river is a very important mark and landscape, one of my suggestions is for sure a sailing dinner, starting at sunset. Start the evening with  photo session on the dock. You can use your wedding photographers for that. Ask your catering vendor to prepare a romantic dinner just for two and serve it on board while navigating on the river. If you have no problems of sea sickness why not sleep over at the sail ship? What a better way to end up a romantic night than to be alone in a sail ship over the night at the bay?”, suggests the wedding planner Rui Mota Pinto.Wedding planner: Rui Mota Pinto | Photo: Rui Mota Pinto

  6. Home celebration

But if you are a more “home couple”, you can also have a romantic night and involve the wedding vendors.
“Ask your wedding planner or decorator to prepare some romantic decor on your home. Talk to your catering to arrange a romantic dinner to surprise your partner. If you have a band for the wedding day why not talk to them and try to create a small setting of one or two acoustic band members to give that romantic rhythm to your house dinner? In the end you will feel just like being in a fancy place but with the comfort and intimacy that you love so much on your house”, recommends Rui Mota Pinto.

  7. Picnic

If you are living in a hot weather country, a romantic picnic over the stars will always be romantic. “Ask your caterer to prepare a fancy and romantic picnic basket for you. With the help of you Wedding Planner choose an incredible place, and simply enjoy. You can add a amazing hot balloon ride to the location of the picnic to make it even more fantastic”, says Rui Mota Pinto.

  8. Spice up your life

For couples who want to “spice” a little the day, why not talk to your wedding photographer some days before and make a boudoir session for your partner? “You can leave and send him some photos during the day, just to tease a bit. Then dress up to impress and let your imagination take control”, indicates Rui Mota Pinto.

No matter how you are celebrating, it is important to have fun, smile, and be passionate. “Regardless on the way you choose to celebrate, my biggest advice is to focus on one another. No matter if you are at home, on a fancy hotel or restaurant, over the air or the sea, the most important thing is for you to celebrate your love.
And that you can make it in a fun way, in a a romantic way, in a fancy way, in a sensual way, in a radical way or any way you feel is the best for you as a couple. Most of all smile. Because in the end there is nothing more romantic or more sensual than a true and passionate smile!!”, says Rui Mota Pinto.
